Mammals.

Quoting from Nick Hornby's novel About A Boy, reading through the passage that shared the same sentiments like I had meant that I was not the only one being a morbid mortal - this perspective is shared from a heterosexual main character, a guy: "He wanted to cut off his own penis with a kitchen knife". (p36, 1998)

Certainly, let me help you with that. Especially men who call themselves fathers and force themselves to their children; boys destroying another girl, and so on - treacherous, atrocious, disasterous stories of society that leaves you lifeless, no faith is restored in this type of mammal.

Boys to men, don't be sorry for me. I'm only one of the countless victims of your kind. Look, I don't even work in the entertainment industry - oh wait, I do - but I'm not the star everyone wants to pounce on - or the director to please. I work behind the scenes. So I clean up the mess the next day instead with a smile. Heheh. #DirtyLaundry

As simple as a flick of my sports bra the other night from my bro, is forgivable. In my head, I only roll my eyes and say, "Ah boys being just boys really" but as a matter of fact for my value as a female, it has reduced my own value as one female. It felt condescending. Degrading. But, a that's what a heterosexual boy do during adolescent years, pulling mini sets or bra straps from behind as our white uniform shows its creases and lines of it.

#MeToo. Have you not?
Don't go further on this read if you don't want me to crush your K-pop dreams and promises of faithful marriages.

Yang.

I've reached to the point where I'm slightly around the same time last year to start taking charge of things and it's halfway March 2016.

It's been a year into the new year and I'm not going to lie that the power of the fire is going to set an all-time high. Mixing with my youthful energy but my almost near the grave neurons approach, the Fire Monkey has probably never been apt in timing and combination as I, the Monkey, needs Fire as much as I can get this year. And so, I need the sun to energise me. The sun is a star full of blazing fire, therefore I'm asking the star, for a person who loves stargazing, to lend me a hand this year.

Third time's a charm, everyone say, and now my hair is done right and I'm happy.

Wanderlusting.

First ever couch-surfing trip and solo-tripping to Seoul, South Korea for a mission and time-out after coming back to the homeland has been accomplished. Without any frost bite. Almost...

Word must be crazy that I was by Han-gang at 9-10PM with the winds after a huge dinner from DMC... just for the night lights, really. It was my last night.

I came back, and I saw my mum probably received this calendar from the travel agency, and I was looking at it.

Friends know I have an 'ultimate dream job' is to go out and talk to people. But not just people. They're the Korean and Japanese people that everyone right now is currently fawning over. So as expected their questions upon my return was "so who did you see"

I said, "None".

I tried but in their own land it simply didn't work - it wasn't the country's USP so it would be highly neglected. Visiting on other places especially in the West, they'd be begging for some serious exposure. Time to morphin migrate I guess.

That aside, I felt that I've been slapped because the deeper story within how this trip has tweaked my high levels of skepticism and have significantly reduced it..

The trip gave the needed feels and good angst coming out... and how pure luck and magic of life's unseen algorithms (like The Secret? but we never know) I just need the world to prove to me that I may be optimistic about the bleak future of the earth we're directing ourselves to. Thanks to this trip I reflected what I have accumulated from friends and memories of such to say "Hey, it would be nice after all not to die alone!" - slap!

On the other hand... these quotes from the calendar are all true - slap! as seen below.

And this quote was especially befitting with the 7-day getaway out to unplug unfinished issues from where I came from:

Can you hear the slap! ?

Hahaha.

I won't lament skepticism about the world's bleak future with current signs and sighs. However power has been given back with new inspiration, perspiration, expectation and new knowledge with each step I route myself to venture out in the city.

Love has returned, as I witnessed something I've never seen in my life for me to believe that such thing does exist. But in order to be able to find it, how simple and hidden can this be? This is still a journey in progress.

While this idea of being a skeptic is magnanimously lifted to some point

Traveling for me, has sowed its seed inside me and grew to be fed with oxygen. Like the air we breathe, we need to step out and do it - I have to do it to fill in this oxygen tank.

Seems like meeting new people that sends the same positive vibes or energy gives me much more strength - an extrovert at its finest?

This couple has lifted my skepticism by an immense amount
Don't count on me after 2 weeks - I'll be hibernating for a month close doors in my room without speaking to anyone because business and leisure trip took quite the energy to speak both ends - speak professionally and to speak with friends after it all ends but it means double energy speaking.

With the success of me couchsurfing (but this includes a LOT of random luck, really, it's been a very interesting trip), I was let for more, more, mooooooore.

Couchsurfing allows us to learn and live from locals, and immediately have friends to tell you about the society. That itself is such a thrill for me and I can testify how perfect, its tagline is:

You have friends all over the world - you just haven't met them yet

(A little Buble here?)

I'm dying to go out now and meet. Rinse, repeat, and do it all over again with the right people, friends, and memories to be made despite all of these havoc - ISIS, global warming, carbon footprints, rainforest depletions, any other plane crashes, natural disasters, anything - going on....

Let's just try and continue to enjoy what's left, live in the life you have, while also trying to find the best solution to all of this.

Live it. I'm going to work my ass off and get some moolah in exchange for another trip out and bounce positive vibes around the globe and fill in my oxygen tank or else I can't live. It's a lust I think I'd have to cave in.

"You are here! We found it!" that tricky Eat Your Kimchi cafe but we found it thanks to my usual map-reading prowess. In Seoul.
Till the next journey.

Enough.

I have had enough of this dog-eat-dog, cat-eat-cat, adults-eat-babies world.

Can someone pull me out of this; please keep me sane.

WWYD

Know if or not know it, I've moved to London for postgrad studies dad's been pestering of me going out of the house or else...but all in all I've arrived and started everything and got, a fresher's flu. A freshie in the West in the fall weather and down with a wet nose to welcome me (amidst the honestly friendly weather of sunshine and wind that's totally human).

It's definitely going to get a lot colder than this so this is a good welcome, better now than later in the middle of the semester which has chuckloads of reading to do...

Talking about beauty is another entire database of research and perception.
Not the point now. I think I have a clear goal as a very mild-to-none feminist mission - seeing in my previous last blog post on a random month about how sex and entertainment industry is now giving free sex through pop culture and music - in their tiniest sense to bring back sense to the girls in today's world, especially with the Eastern heritage. I was home all day and a Hall mate of mine in the study room was present; we were discussing about here and there and about globalisation, Western notions, and everything - in this terms, it's relationship, love, sex, everything - MILEY will be one case of the extreme.

In regards to crudely devaluate female.

Eastern values still remain intact with me, although I live as an individualistic, introverted, metropolitan single that wishes to remain silent, until another being throws in the question for me to react to it, which is almost found in every first world metropolitan city and means it has been under the Western culture.

With more women not having more integrity for themselves. As simple as my Hall friend A says,

"I think first, if I were to do this, I would think that if my dad walks in out of nowhere and no news right now what I'm doing, will I be able to casually say, 'Hi Dad, what's up?', then it's good. But if I can't do it, then, well I won't do it."
And this is as concise and simply said. I won't have face if my dad knows things I would feel uncomfortable if he knew. His colleagues knew. My mom. Demoralise. We're Asian so we still have to keep the Eastern respect. If I respect myself then I could face my dad in all circumstances of what I do.

It's amazing how Billy Ray actually approves his daughter's artist's current image-reconstruction, so I would respect on that that "She's Still My Miley" (however the moment I was watching Wrecking Ball I was squeasy in my seat - her dad can watch it too and well, his full-grown daughter is swinging without clothes, so).

What would you do? I'm just keeping my self-check sane and integrity alive and to keep the Eastern heritage of respect going for teenage girls, and it's what strongly I believe in as a mission.

Next time I'm writing it'll be a whole new light on Asian culture, the study of the cultural industries and whatever I'm on fa-i-ah sitting in as a pupil again! But, chunk-sized bites on lecture notes on Tweetah, for those who are interested in the subject, mention away!

2.10.2013

20.

Should I say I'm a liberal woman, I'm a free woman, I'm an emancipated woman from Asia, this is something important as I am well up and standing today in this modern era.

Updated: Another website but not in relation to the middle-up society in most developing/developed countries portray the urgency for the need for attention in this 21st C. - it might not be our problem to meddle but it's the dreams those every little girls posses before they even get to dream, can't do due to tradition. I've signed it, what's your say? > Too Young To Wed

I now am 20 this year and with my life scope, experience, and current standings and upbringings, modern media and perceptions clearly redefine life, especially for Asian women. I'm Asian, I'm a woman, which path should I go - chase my stars, or let low and feel the grounds?

20 and forever 19 at heart. No one does this sht except Asians. <3 span="">

50 years ago, our grandmas would've been married by the time she was 14 and had her first child (only child for people in the Republic of China). They didn't know about education, life, and continued to serve her husband, the man of the house.

Today, where I am standing as well in the position of an Asian woman and educated within the western structure as well as to it being exposed, our demands, aspirations and willing to follow our ancestral lead in life.

Women used to be the last resort for anything, and is not given chance to expand their horizons. Sometimes, it might be a better case to leave work for men because now the workforce is so competitive, both men and women now are vying for the last space of the chair to get hired.

What if women kept on following their parents' wish to stay home and do housework? Perhaps the workforce will not have this kind of beguiling, competitive, dynamic, overwhelming industry. But today, we are also in pursuit to be successful in the career ladder, and thus, priorities in life, is re-arranged.

Marriage used to be a must and is sacral; we now see non-married couples living together like a married couple. Now, Asian women, whom is taught to get hitched no matter what, is also following the business-minded footsteps for gender equality like any Western and decides to focus on their career over family. Article provides relevant changes and facts in today, and it's not absent among in my country as well.

A lot of feminists strive to put females to be equal as males.

Or, the fact that the male population is a little on deplete because it's a "cat eat cat and dog eat dog world" where men dates other men, leaving women empty-handed and thus goes on with getting another women.

I was in an arts school where our liberated minds do not put discrimination against; rather as the very best friends anyone can ever have. Trust me - I can enjoy my time much better in gay parties compared to a regular club. Global Times has pinned it down and I only could laugh while reading it ("ahoy, that's me in the situation! Love my boys")

20 is a start of a redefining decade - there's no more TEEN in my years, it's time to get even more serious. Like, serious. Pretty serious. I take my life pretty seriously or me in doing everything and having the label "being the youngest successful ________" in it because I have what everyone do not have - youth and age number. Something that can let me through the finish point.

And now I'm halfway to be 21 - legal to do anything.

The issue came up when I emigrated home for a year break before continuing my studies later this year. Aunties, moms, and moms' friends would say "Hello, so do you have a boyfriend?" and in fact, today would be some informal seogaetting going on. I wouldn't mind - it's a way to meet people and do networking for I work from home. As a home kid, I rarely go out.

But the little nags and prayers for it gets to me pretty well and I understand that I'm still Asian and the even bigger fact I'm the only daughter in the house of course, makes my mom worried. (Thanks dad for not pestering and instead underlining my education and work is important, dating is another priority).

Asian. Marriage. Women. Life.

A friend of mine got married last year, age 19. Another one at 20. Another one prior to the end of her studies hitched at 21. I'm not complaining, it's them, why not? Life as Lady of Leisure is something I want as well - who doesn't want to live the big LL (living large) and be a tai-tai?

But again, it's me (helloooo, the girl who wants to be a gagwoman? yeah). Unless I'm chasing my serious dreams, whut derr fakq dreams, daily dose sleeping and potato couching, I'm a very happy-go-lucky follow-the-flow que-sera-sera. I gots time, no worries.

NEVER TOO SERIOUS FOR ANYTHING.

With a target.

Adventure Time!

Bright.

The Ps'ed photo beauty of the bay.

Sitting down likka boss on top of the ship that carried my tour package group, we headed to sail over the UNESCO protected, chilly, breezy, and lovely Halong Bay that's rich with amazing seafood and stalactite and mites sites (although the ones in China are absolute grandeur and other places I forgot that was amazing).

So shine bright... tonight... I translated literally onto the clothes prepared like a normal Jap teen. It's been a while!!!!!!!!! *don't know how much I was excited for winter weather, peeps. I felt home*

What can be considered as luxury? Most will immediately trace their dreams to tote a monogram bag. I, on the other hand, think not.

Having lunch over the seas in a rare place on earth, on the boat, with the view, and eating my heart out, is the best thing ever in life and the best to end 2012! (See how late I'm posting this)

It was 30.12.12. Where were you?

The boat that took us away!
What was so astounding on set was S was sporting a white jacket (I only wore on daily) and the wool hat we bought at the same street shop the day before in Hanoi. How similar and how cute!
A-YO AZN IN D HAUS.

From the back... [via Instagram]
Uh, uh, two cupcakes cherry-topped with a toast of gin and white.
Postcard from location! Definitely not the Ps'ed one.

Trivial.

In the streets of Hanoi, motorcycles are dominant, thin buildings are present everywhere.

It's amazing how humans have build upon the society with conscience and perception of things that are different according to race, culture, location. I spent the last days of 2012 and first few days of 2013 along the tourist destinations of the adjacent countries Cambodia and Vietnam, one hot, and the latter chilly for Ha Long Bay.

Set aside those tourists places over here for light notes and insertion of OOTD/WIWT posts and scenic shots, anyone can go click on the search engine and see quality photographs of Angkor Wat, Halong Bay, the city, the people, and at a glance you'd be acquainted with yellow to tan skin looking people working and continuing on their lives.

What was a great takeaway of this trip was the most informative tour leaders aroundand how they have used their lives as hard truths and stories on how they live.

Looks like  a developed city, but honestly within their grounds, not.
There never has been in my travelling with packages and arranged tour leaders who definitely gets commissions on places we go to be this frank, and so upon my dad's tumultuous inquiries on 'how much is the land here?' along with 2 other men in the bus, because of his property background, land became a story that we didnt much know about in Vietnam.

So, Vietnam. How much did I know about the country before? I only knew Pho noodles which I totally love and can eat every day (rice made to noodles. thin beef brisket, fresh aroma of the soup... and rarely found in my living location)... as well as a book about Vietnam cuisine by Bobby Chinn, the interracial chef - one of his roots is having some Vietnam blood and I got the book from the man. I read the preface and history snippets (forget the recipes, definitely no time doing).

But no, upon learning, their lives are so trivial - using American dollars like their own currency, living in tall thin houses, and yet they still can enjoy the higgledy-piggledy of its traffic...

Tinker.

Created for TIALM. Isn't it eye-pleasing and minimalistic?
I'm alive, and when I'm alive, this is the only time I get to blog because demands from here, here, and here is taking a full toll on me. I only can be blessed with so many activities, new friends, new experiences back in my motherland and still stay close to home.

Matter of fact I cannot wait to get out next year as well and be productive again with my brain and hands. 1 year should be enough as a break, aye?

The only thing I cannot stand will be eating fish and chips daily beacuse there's no legit veggies or fruits and no one's going to cut it for me and no one's going to clean up my messy room thanks to deadlines for postgrad... next year... anyone in the city I'll be moving in mid 2013, holla~

And that's the end of me being very sensible and being a minimalist. Hello, too much reading from manga, I'm still me!

So LOOK AT ME! SURPRISE! (James said that, if you do follow Line) Wishing anyone who's reading the very, very exciting best in 2013 for we have been given an amazing new chance to continue on to live our dreams. I can open my eyes, to type, to breathe, hear my heart beat, hear my friend's little embryo heart beat, see my dad going gaga over football, and eating my mom's everyday super delicious cooking I have to savour them everyday.

I met awesome new people as I moved back, successfully pulled off events this year, graduated, saw more stars except my shining boys, and onwards with my project, This Is A Lokal Movement.

I became 20.

What did you wish for, and what are you thankful for this year?

11.03.2012

Fanatical.

A simple video I wanted to watch on Youtube actually offered me to choose which ad (there was 2) to watch before my video.

I haven't rambled in years to what my blog's name reflects but well, this is for all young girls and boys to fathom what is really going on behind your $3.8billion, you donated 0.001-2%, depending on how many repackaged albums you buy.

More than a cut, deeper than the skin, the society that is trying so hard or has its benchmark set high up that is indeed, scary for me, a normal whatever-i-dont-care human. Now I'd have to be so paranoid if I ever lived there (because I'm not caucasian, their no. 1 muse).

I immediately chose the second, entitled "SEOUL FASHION WEEK" that was about 30 minutes long (will this Ad actually work?)

Which turns out to be VICE's documentary embedded below. I watched it entirely on full screen (hello Begi!!! so cute with leftover English scones) for it to be an actual recent take, which took place 2 weeks ago. Yes, please watch it in the biggest screen you have to realise.

The fashion, to the extent was not just about fashion, it was everything encapsulated in a rational POV.

Cheers to Charlotte who walked casually, tried on the augmented fitting model on the subway (I have a research paper copy on this, it's real apparently so)

pulled a couple to pick on COUPLING UNDIES WHICH IS ABSURD (who the heck will see, which means I know those purchasing are sexually active thanks)...

Meeting tattoo/barber rock punk and him being embarrassed and share his state of mind what Hallyu means to him...

Meeting HSB and cornering him to inanely say SHINee and the rest of bands are overtly protective...

Double surgery eyelids... "Very very happy and I want to be like you because you're beautiful..." and the part where the person is crying I had to hold my breath. Not really good with NCIS and CSI body scenes either.

(What about me the elephant body and "I think I'm Ugly and nobody wants to love me" face?)

Infinite / D-UNIT meeting and shuffling with them (wow isn't she tall!)...

But hey, I thought it was a review of Seoul Fashion Week but it's not. Its the current diagnose of things to break stereotypes of the perfect and happening South Korea.

Many things to remorse this week, including James Bond coming to Indonesia... a decade ago.

The S.K. society is gets perfection by the minute, making its humanity a volatile place as one can try to survive. Not as the survival of the fittest, but the most fairest of them all both female and male.

"But on the first day their child is born, their past secrets will come back".
That is the last scariest remark of the entire being.

6.28.2012

Kings.

HELLO WITH A BANG!

Some huge more than 3 meters vehicle must have passed this and scraped their top. Hmmm.

Toilors and Silk. ROFLMAO

To think that we thought we'll never go to Bangkok... 2 minutes left for departure... literally two and doors are closed...

Let's not go there.

Day 1 in Bangkok proves that the place is just like Indonesia with a easy feasibility of travel in Singapore (read: on foot and train) and that I, who have officially graduated from my Bachelors and is properly labeled a Degree holder, has a very first trip on her own in the wild, wild shopping heaven of the City of Angels.

While doing an impersonate Pornsak Sukhumvit of Channel 5 The Noose on repeat and getting my accent right to be a localize tourist, there are things that certainly is only and applicable to Thailand.

No, not tuk tuks, I didn't ride any for H and I was still in flu and cough (and yet we still share the same utensils) way before when we did Music Matters, Song Joong Ki, and now apparently trying to get in T-ARA Lovey Dovey Bangkok fanmeeting, but some certain social rules that took to my surprise.

Theatre watching: Apart from the recommendation that I was suppose to watch the 4D show (now showing The Avengers, H has watched twice, we opt for normal movie instead) for about 400 Baht (100 Baht is S$4), I went to finally watched MIB 3 which pulled my tears at the end for James, aka Agent J. Spoiler no, it was the part where advertisements ran for about half an hour where we dashed from the streets to go scurry back to Paragon and be in time for the show at 9PM, and where afterwards, had to stand up to give salute to the King's video and national anthem (? Correct me if I'm wrong). That was new for me. After that bit of impromptu stand up I sojourn to my comfy seat for 120 Baht which can auto-incline and my Hello Kitty popcorn tub and drink. Sanrio-certified products (hologram sticker attached) minus the Yen pricing. Serious love.

Food:
First thing we ate after we land: DUNKIN' DONUTS, I had Men in Black 3 donut and it was DELICIOUS I regretted taking the two glazed peanut donuts as I wanted this kind. Oh oh oh.

Dinner: FUJI Japanese Resto (recommended by Champ, again) and ordered huge sashimi bento for like 220 Baht. CRAZY CHEAP QUALITY TOP NOTCH. Makes me want to return but quickly H reminded me that we have other places to try out

And oogling at street foods of sate (so familiar) but confused if the meat is really the meat we want... (too much watching Indonesian news channels)

BREAK TIME.

Trains: Instead of Taxis, I opted for train (I'm listening to Champ 24/7 here) and yes, their trains look exactly like MRT. So I felt like I've arrived in Changi Airport again after 2 hours. The officers were so very helpful, both inside the control station (if they call it that way) and the special way for luggages. They tried their best to accomodate our answers after we arrived at SIAM station which we were suppose to alight at NATIONAL STADIUM. Meh we turned around and walked with my huge luggage with me (empty) and bumped into local stars doing their interview in one mall. Then we were out and lost.

So trains here, like SMRT and SBS (brands) have different lines like to what Singapore have presently, navigate around the town. First the airport link, then we change to the city green link. Tickets are priced affordable for 45 Baht from Airport, and another 20 for city of 2 stops. More or less, we arrived at the 'Dhoby Ghaut Interchange' of Bangkok, but imagine it being open air.

I forgot what else but boy, were we faded out and crashed in right after a wondrous shower with peppermint shower gel and shampoo which is ultra-refreshing and cooling to my head!, oogling our cute room and going rather gaga of what should our bubble speeches be filled with (as seen down below).

OUR MOST LOVELY LUB'D HOSTEL - BEST IN THE WORLD! JUST DOOOOWN THEEEER.

there's more but this is long overdue I have forgotten what else did we discover that day. Just a thought down below...

Is it... oh no. Just checking. It's a legit skin-only clinic and no tucking in things of 'things.'

12.09.2011

Moolah.

And so there's been this frenzy going on with a journo from Strait Times in which I didn't catch.
(Well, sorry that I have not been in touch on my Twitter [which I have moved as a Specialist on KLOUT yay! Not that it matters to you], nor Facebook).

Well, a day after this, I have an announcement that this post is updated. I just finished watchin KBS Entertainment Weekly. They were talking how K-Pop lyrics are so boggling on how empty the meaning and all their glizy blitzy music. They too, are talking and critical about it but can't do anything as it is such a major contribution into the pop culture and arts wave, in which why Singapore is getting some moolah thanks to this too.

Pop Critic Im Jinmo states that this situation with the English wannabe and weird lyrics that you force English inside the song makes "K-pop deem shallow and cheap..." and another media person says, "but when you see pretty faces and cool dances, you forget everything about the lyrics."

So Ms Chia, before you regurgitate your inmost opinion on national paper, you should know that Koreans themselves actually are anti-kpops. You're not alone. Or, the Koreans I know, such as my classmates and peers that are around me 95% they seriously do not like K-Pop, as it's rare to find a Korean outside of Korea who is a crazy fan like me. That explains how 80% of MAMA votes are overseas. Teenage years onwards and ones who live overseas hates K-Pop so much, and they reward me the label of walking K-Gossip dictionary when I asked a new scandal news which they just give a shrug over.

This new move I think, is because why I ditched western pop in the first place when I first met K-pop.

Sick of K-pop Cult [in Singapore]

The headline first greets.

It's a local media here in Singapore and the journo, Adeline Chia (which I am surprise she's got her fan page, maybe I should start making one for pictures and videos which didn't make the cut for OUR favorite K-Pop and J-stars, who's up? I'M HEARING YOU BELOW. LOL /hangmealready)

Let's break down her rants in this first ever utterubishing of the year before you can try and comprehend how do you say whutderrfakqizvat.

It's seriously been a long time since I utterubbish, a column here on my blog to say concrete opinions, no-offence taken.

I found whatever picture I had uploaded here, this must be DBSK when they were at their glorious days, but like what Chia says, they don't "live a life that's like a movie" which caused their 13-year contract to end and move out and to form JYJ.

The plastic fantastic making machine (read: trinity of the Korean entertainment, and latest new ones for the new fresh too-young-to-even-sing-or-act-or-have-low-voice boy groups that has been sprouting like wild mushrooms) has only one aim: MOOLAH MAKING MACHINE.

Don't you know how much they rake in MERCHANDISES (which I fell that when I was younger, now I know better to not spend... NOT) and SINGLE SALES (seriously not worthed but it is because how beautifully packaged it is and the PHOTOBOOKS) and PHOTOBOOKS (for further emphasis). I BET TONS OF GIRLS MELTED OVER THAT JAEJOONG SCENE (that's why I screenprint and I was oogling over it.  Couldn't find the post of where I used this pic but I found this EPIC one instead for good)

Everyone still with me and agrees?

Now I'm a fan here, I've been in the Hallyu Wave since late 2005, which makes me a proud veteran to support and enjoy this entertainment, but I am rational and I'm in the middle. Continuing my profession to upgrade myself as a 'professional fangirl' by being a journalist, my previous and upcoming background in media and culture studies proved further for me to make a point and to lead everyone, young and old, to please see both sides. Don't get rushed off, see left and right when you cross or you'll get hit.

"To any disinterested observer, it was a blatant rip-off. To the fans, it was like communing with the gods. It was a uniquely depressing experience but during the show, I couldn not put my finger on the reason."

I cannot agree more. But this is a movement called ˆsafest way to do business, 110% guarantee REVENUE" event. I was at one last year and I've forgotten to multiply the ticket price to my home country's currency which I usually do becuase I am blinded by the news that my gods are coming (Haaaaail JYJ). It was like VVVIP ticket if it were to be back home and I got like faraway seats for a friggin' showcase. But well, since we love them so very much we will support them till the end, right?

#AKTF

That's the power of fans. Without us, the entertainment industry will never start.
General rule, people, there's a demand, there'll be high-octane selling supply. Hot cakes, krispy donuts, you name it.
Ms Chia, didn't you learn this in business class?

Don't tell me you're loosing to me in knowing the world of competitive stocks and loan sharks.

"A lot has been made about the Hallyu Wave, the unstoppable South Korean pop culture tsunami that has washed up on the shores of the world, conquering music charts, television ratings and the wall space of adolescents’ rooms.
I am heartily sick of it. Every bit of it. The manufactured sounds, the ersatz emotions, the clone-like stars, the cult-like, weepy fandom."

I understand. It's because how Singapore is such a lucrative city to make the moolah churn for all K-pop. Remember the days where we whutderrfakq Thailand back in 2007-2008 because all K-pop stars seem to go there and greet fans and never in Indonesia and rarely in Singapore? I know I did lament it every time I met my Thai friends.

And then I was crying and screaming of joy when K-POP NIGHT CONCERT 2008 as the first ever concert in Singapore, without any tickets that are sold but is pretty full house to my mom, "MOM I CAME TO SINGAPORE AT THE RIGHT TIME RIGHT PLACE RIGHT MOMENT. Fandom support finally pays off after watching religiously every night of ArirangTV, I now get to see Wonder Girls 'Nobody' live!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

And Nobody was, in fact, the song of the year in 2008, and in Bugis street today, it is still repetitively, on the loop, played by that juice stall.

I have to stop reminiscing as my fangirl spaz keeps on surfacing...

At any case however, I wonder why you are even sick of it in the first place... if you only see us trending it on Twitter, and see overnight queues, and you hear it once in a while because it's well, JOB CALLS, you can't push it on your culture vulture - you're already making negative comments in this contemporary culture that we all agree it's taking over the world. I know - why don't you kindly decline the offer to cover the event - and pass the job onto a colleague who I would believe would appreciate it more?

I 've met the press peeps as in the same position as you and I are - some of them are totally clueless about it, in which the general remark is "they look all the same!!!!!" which I totally understand. Unless you're an actual fan, all the girls are like hot off the taiyaki pancake making at ION B4.

Unless otherwise stated, I would have to take sides with K-Pop now that if you're writing this because you're only a person who's examining us from the reflective bubble surface, you're only seeing yourself. If you're inside the bubble, that means you have already been exposed the ins and outs, and finally pop the bubble to get out of the 'ridiculous' cult group you say but so at least your say is much more substantial than what it is now, a recycled grey paper, in the bin by this hour.

You are sick of it - then please explain what Beliebers are. Beiber is a good competitor in his seventeens, and arguably has bigger fanclub than what Cassiopeia (TVXQ) is.

"This seems to be the drill: Train some nice-looking kids in a star factory. Assemble a group of them. Give them a name that is an abbreviation for something or just a random collection of letters and numbers.
The girls must have stick-thin arms and legs and the boys must look a bit like girls. Next, produce a song that is the demon child of lady Gaga and Black Eyed Peas. Throw in Autotune, hip-hop beat and strong synth lines. Make a video that is a mini movie, featuring the stars doing synchronised dance moves while the back-up dancers gurn at the sides.
Voila! You have a viral hit."

Only one explanation Ms Chia.
MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-LAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

(OH! It works. I didn't plan this post to have this title beforehand and this pun worked! Sasuga, watashi-wa, hyahahahahaha)

Let me explain how the K-Pop works - leave talented Wheesung, Leessang, 8ight, VOS, SG Wannabe, etc. alone, they're not part of K-Pop we're talking about here - they focus on spur of the moment boom.
A quick escalation to popularity, and to find a long downhill after 3-4 weeks. Senior groups would last longer as their popularity soars and most music channels keep them up 1st place due to votes. Once in a while, a song of the year appears. The last time I know, it's a fight between Nobody and Abracadabra...
This year's song of the year, 2NE1, though I voted for them, have to say it's short-lived. But it is song of the year because not only I hear the song is used at GAG Concert and aptly fits well, it also is a stance for the girl groups to be so dominant and have the guts to say 'I AM THE BEST." Maybe your perception can change if you were to watch YG Concert hopefully next yaer as their concept is far then the 'Formuta T' you're talking about. And which this formula is implemented.

"I worry about these starlets who are worked to the bone and whose careers last as long as their good looks. Then they are discarded like rag dolls."

I feel you Ms Chia. I feel the very same way that this industry is so about the looks and popularity and not judged by the real vocal skill and how big their lungs capacity is. Sadly, it is the world we are at, and it goes in the same for fashion. I feel bad for the boyband "Boyfriend" as it so doesn't appeal to me but  a lot to younger girls because they're "SO CUTEEEEEEEEE."

Once they're not cute, they are down the drain. Should know that this K-Pop is the tapao entertainment - takeaway, instant and quickly be discarded once you're done with it. Fans ages 17 and above should start reasoning well on why they like other than "because they're handsome!" and I sure to believe to hope that they will stick to them till the end, sometimes even until they disband.

"Recently, watching a sea of red lightsticks keeping beat to a song made me and my companion grab on to each other. Eyes wide in terror, we communicated wordlessly for fear of persecution. Our faces said this: ‘Are we at a cult gathering?’
K-pop is also unique in inspiring extreme behaviour from fans and generating psychosis. Cyber-bullying and online smear campaigns are common practices by anti-fans who target a certain entertainer they hate."

Aww, please don't say that, I am a bit offended by this. We're not a cult, we're a family who supports one group. Isn't it the same if you loved Brad Pitt when you were in your teenage years? Or watching your Keeping Up with Your Hollywood nutty-empty-headed stars every week and gape over them?

Since we're proud Asians, we do things our way to show our support. I have been in this 'underground' weird cult then since I first met it in 2005 and I am proud that I have stuck and went through with it in the nightmare of highschool where I was the only one going balls with K-Pop and dramas and all things Korean - and here it is, payback time. I have reaped my hard work. And I am still a proud Cassie, VIP, Blackjack, Fluxus girl, whatever you call, and even more proud that I am part of the hot movement of the year.

Overnight Q's and restless nights with tents on the street isn't new - it might be for you, but if you were to travel and have seen the world the worst and best of East and West, Harry Potter fans queued like hazzard 1 WEEK BEFORE, worst than us K-Pop (which I still think it's ridiculous). But that's how we show our love.

Now please save me from a sea of PINK LIGHTSTICKS tomorrow (one down today) full of boys, and not girls. The cheers, Ms Chia, should I state the obvious, isn't the high-pitch scream from the cult you went to, but tenor to bass-pitched, or more like lions roaring, in the sold-out, full house Indoor Stadium. I think SNSD's voices will drownnnnnnnnn because hunters are on prowl for your not-so-juicy lean-cut thighs.

So yeah, deal with it, we're making a tsunami.
F4 from Taiwan last time made a serious damage to even domestic' helpers everywhere, why hsould this be any different?

Westlife, all went crazy too.

After that, so sad that boybands died down in the West.

Then, came along FINKL, HOT, GOD... and the rest is history when it slowly climbs to popularity and now sky-rocketing so fast that it will hit its Maturity peak soon, so don't you worry Ms Chia. Singapore, will get over it next year, when I leave. Next year will be the final year before fangirls grow up, saying its 'oh another K-Pop act' and not '!@3$*()&#%(*@#&%)(@*&)!@(*&$)(*& they're coming!!!!!'  and wasting about $150 average per event, tax and service and hardship not included.

*taps blackboard furiously*

Fellow students and fangirls and fanboys, let us recap what we have learnt today.
Behind all creatives, unless labelled on our foreheads 'dying artists', is a COMPANY.
Where it is a company, it would only sustain if there are positive revenues.
If there are no profits created, then it is a NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION.

So, before you even try and say we are weepy crying fans all over made boys who lasts only how pretty they look, and vice versa for fanboys all over SNSD goddesses today and tomorrow, without us making hype, without them making idols, without the world to have a place, WE JOURNALISTS AND REPORTERS WILL HAVE NO LIFE IF IT ISN'T FOR THEM. HALLELUJAH FOR FREE EVENTS FOR ME although a few I don't have a clue at all what or who I'm watching (I don't support rookies until I see them live and they impress me then OK).

Thank goodness for events in this tiny country, what if there's no K-Pop? Your advertising media rates won't rise high during MAMA 2011 live screening raking millions, and local magazines who just puts any K-Pop star for its cover gets a boost of 30% sales higher, well, see the good side. If you have war, Singapore can drown any single time. You got no lions to take care of you now Ms Chia, because,

quote unquote a pal of mine, "you've messed with the biggest fan group in the world of K-Pop."

Then in my speculations, MAMA 2011 is a joint effort of CJ and YourSingapore. Of course, tourism in Singapore has gotten a slight boost and name now. And they're trying to seriously make a 1 trillion won deal or so. But if let's say they're signing the deal on Monday, and this article you have written is published, I wonder what the Ministry of Tourism have to say by reading their citizen writing in a negative point of view of regurgitating the obvious facts of the industry.

They would ring you to death and will shrill that 'SO WHAT THEY'RE LIVE-BARBIE AND KEN-MAKING FACTORY, WE WANT THE MOOOOOOOOO LAH!"

Oops, you've screwed a 1 trillion won deal.

See you at Super Show 4! (Maybe)
